Nanook of the North

Looking for some info about Greenland and Eskimos indigenous people I found this movie. The film was shot near Inukjuak, on Hudson Bay in Arctic Quebec, Canada. It's considered to be among the first documentary ever. I found it really interesting, even if much of the action was staged and the movie probably gives an inaccurate view of real Inuit life.

Tomorrow at this time I'll be in Kulusuk, a small village (about 300 people) on a small island in the wild east coast of Greenland. I'll for sure not learn how to build an igloo only with a bone knife... but at least I'll see them... I'll smell and taste the seals flesh... and I'll give myself the opportunity to imagine how it was for those people to live in such extreme conditions, and how still it is.
